| Miss Bahamas World 2009 |

May 31, 2009. Joanna Brown from the Grand Bahama was crowned Miss Bahamas World 2009 at the Rainforest Theatre, in Cable Beach. The 17 year-old beauty, being the youngest, beat 12 other contestants for the coveted title. Llatetra Laing and Dashinique Poiter were the runners-up. |

| Miss Universe Zambia 2009 |

May 31, 2009. Andella Chileshe Matthews, a 21-year-old model and
sports fitness student from Ndola, emerged as Miss Universe Zambia 2009, earning the right to represent Zambia at the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant in the Bahamas. Sthabiso Mteliso became the 1st runner-up while Bongi Mukupa bagged the 2nd runner-up award. |

May 31, 2009. Twenty four year-old Racine Manley from the Village of Dededo was crowned Miss Universe Guam 2009. Racine will represent the island at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant on August. Clarissa Damian and Jodee Catahay were the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively. |

May 30, 2009. The national pageant Miss Paragauy is back with its new queen Viviana Mabel Benitez Duarte from Misiones. Viviana is a 23 year-old medicine student in Asuncion. Natalia Medina Peralta (Amambay) was chosen Miss University Paraguay, Maria Marta Raviolo (Caaguazu) was the 1st runner-up and Karina Maqueda Ramírez (Concepcion) was the 2nd runner-up. |

May 30, 2009. Tanzania's new Miss Universe delegate is Illuminata James. She was crowned Miss Tanzania Universe 2009 at the Milmani Conference Center in Dar Es Salaam. The runners-up were Evelyne Almasi (1st) and Hidaya Maheda (2nd). |

May 30, 2009. The new Miss Malaysia Universe is Joanne Belle Ng Li Vun. She will represent the archipelago at Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas. The first runner-up was Cassandra Patrick and the second runner-up was Claudia Tania Sibert. The coronation was held in Kuala Lumpur. |

May 25, 2009. Face2Face Agency, organizers of the Miss Egypt pageant, has chosen 25-year-old Elham Wagdi as Miss Egypt Universe 2009. Elham, who was 1st runner-up in Pantene Miss Egypt 2005 and represented Egypt in Miss Earth 2005 and Miss Intercontinental 2007, will now compete at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant in the Bahamas this August. |

May 25, 2009. Lourdes Figueroa, a 20-year old model and student from Guatemala City was crowned Miss Guatemala Universe at the Gran Tikal Futura Expocenter. On the same event, Angelica Guevara from San Marco was chosen Miss Guatemala World, while Ivana Bonilla from Chiquimula became this years Miss Guatemala International. |

May 25, 2009. Laura Valenti won the 2009 Miss Universe Italy contest held at the Palariccione in Riccione. The pageant was participated by 24 candidates. Laura will represent her country at the 2009 Miss Universe contest in the Bahamas. |

May 24, 2009. The host candiadte for the 2009 Miss Universe pageant has been chosen at the Nassau's Rainforest Theatre. Kiara Sherman was crowned Miss Bahamas Universe 2009 along with Miss Bahamas Earth 2009 Ife Bethel Sears and Miss Bahamas International 2009 Amanda Appleyard. |

May 23, 2009. Joahanna Mariel Lasic from Buenos Aires won the Miss Universo Argentina 2009 crown. She will represent the South American nation at Miss Universe 2009 at the Atlantis Paradise Island, the Bahamas. Joahanna beat 22 other hopefuls during the finals held at the NH Gran Hotel Provincial. Gretel Venecia Otto and Gisela Melisa Berger Villa were chosen as runners-up. |

| Ungfrú Ísland 2009 |

May 23, 2009. The Ungfrú Ísland (Miss Iceland) contest crowned its new queen in Reykjavik. Eighteen year-old Guðrún Dögg Rúnarsdóttir, from Vesturland, bagged this year's pageant title and gave her the opportunity to represent Iceland at Miss World 2009 in South Africa. The 1st runner-up spot went to Magdalena Dubik, while Sylvía Dagmar Friðjónsdóttir became the 2nd runner-up. |

May 21, 2009. The Miss Bolivia pageant celebrated it's 30th year under Promociones Gloria at the Gran Mariscal Theater of Sucre- where four new beauty queens were crowned. Chosen as Miss Bolivia 2009 is Claudia Arce of Chuquisaca who will compete in Miss Universe 2010 and possibly in Miss Earth this year. The Miss Bolivia World title went to Flavia Foianini of Bicentenario, while Ximena Vargas of Santa Cruz became Miss Bolivia International. Paola Flores of Litoral was the fourth queen winning the title Miss Bolivia Continente Americano. |

A Királyno (The Queen) 2009 contest crowned three new ladies for the top three international beauty pageants. 21-year old student Orsi Serdult was crowned Miss World Hungary and will be Hungary's Miss World 2009 delegate. Professional model Zsuzsa Budai, 21, was chosen as Miss Universe Hungary, while 18 year-old student Korinna Kocsis was awarded the Miss Earth Hungary title. The latter two will compete in Miss Universe and Miss Earth this year, respectively. |

May 17, 2009. Three Argentinian crowns for 2009 were given to three new beauty queens at the Civic Center Plaza Seca, San Juan. The Miss World Argentina was won by Evelyn Lucia Manchon, Miss International Argentina was awarded to Mercedes Viana and the Miss Earth Argentina crown was given to Gisela Menossi. Each of them will compete in their respective grand slam pageants this year. Gema Pineda and Belén Fernández landed as runners-up in the said competition. |

May 17, 2009. Ada Aimée de la Cruz, 2007 Miss Mundo Dominicana winner, won her 2nd national beauty pageant crown as this year's Miss Republica Dominicana. Ada, from San José de Ocoa province, will be the Dominican Republic's candidate to the 58th Miss Universe contest in the Bahamas. Miss Monte Plata, Ana Rita Contreras, was the first runner up. |

May 16, 2009. Mariana Valente, a 23-year old Languages student at York University, beat 55 other beauties for the Miss Universe Canada 2009 title during the finals held at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto. Mariana, who was born in Brazil, will be Canada's representative to the 2009 Miss Universe contest in the Bahamas on August. The runners-up were Ylenia Aurucci (1st), Ksenia Mezenina (2nd), Neda Derakhshan (3rd) and Isabelle Grastin (4th). |

May 15, 2009. Realmente Bella crowned two Panaman grand slam beauties on its second year at the Tihany Spectacular Circus Tent. The new queens of the reality TV show were Nadege Herrera as Miss Panama World and Diana Patricia Broce as Miss Panama Universe. They will compete in Miss World and Miss Universe pageants this year, repectively. The remaining finalists were Liseth Diaz, Stephanie Thompson, Lidia McNulty and Maria Luisa Pretelt. |

She was mired in some controversy at this year's Miss Singapore Universe (accused by certain sources of allegedly skipping the preliminary audition and activities), but Rachel Kum, 24, managed to skirt the heat to become the winner of the local beauty pageant held at Shangri-La Hotel's Island Ballroom. Rachel will be sent to the Miss Universe 2009 finals on August. Runners-up were Iman-April Wang and Cheryl Gabrielle Wee. |

The Filipino-German beauty was crowned at The Arena in San Juan during the widely-watched pageant finals. Other winners were: Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism Adie Adelantar (Victorias City), Miss Philippines-Fire Patricia Marie Tumulak (Quezon City), Miss Philippines-Air Michelle Martha Braun (Aklan Province) and Miss Philippines-Water Catherine Loyola (Fil. Runners-up in the competition were 25-year-old Lydia Yhnell from Newport and 19 year old Alize Mounter from Rhondda, Cynon, Taff. |

May 5, 2009. 18-year-old Nanihi Bambridge is the new Miss Polynesie Francaise. The new beauty contest took place at the Pirae City Hall in Tahiti. Nanihi will represent French Polynesia at the Miss World 2009 pageant. The 1st Runner-up was Ina Pater and Aruhoia Biret was the 2nd runner-up. |
