May 31, 2008. Mariann Birkedal from Stavanger won the very first Den Norske Miss Universe competiton and will represent Norway in Miss Universe this year. Mariann is a twenty-one year-old Economics student in Oslo. The Den Norske Miss Universe competition was also organized by the Froken Norge national pageant.

May 31, 2008. Claudia Ferraris, 19 years old from Bergamo, was the winner of Miss Universe Italy national finals held at Riccione. Castana. Claudia is presently a freshman college student taking up Economy and Commerce. Weeks from now, she'll be flown to Vietnam for the Miss Universe contest.

May 31, 2008. Eighteen year-old Alexandra Helga Ívarsdóttir won the 2008 Ungfu island crown and will compete in Miss World 2008. Ingibjörg Ragnheiður Egilsdóttir and Sonja Björk Jónsdóttir were the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively, and will be sent to Miss Universe and Miss Earth contests.

May 31, 2008. The new Dutch pageant for Miss Universe Pageant crowned it very 1st winner. Charlotte Labee, 22, emerged as the winner and will represent the low lands at Miss Universe in Vietnam. Jelena Petrova was the 1st runner-up while Milou Verhoeks (Miss Earth Netherlands 2007) was the 2nd runner-up.

May 31, 2008. Local singer and actress Thuy Lam won the Miss Universe Vietnam crown and will be this year's Miss Universe host candidate. Vo Hoang Yen and Duong Truong Thien Ly were the 1st and 2nd runners-up. The pageant was held at the Vinpearl Resort in Nha Trang.

May 31, 2008. Levy Li Su Lin, a student at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman beat 13 other beauties at the conclusion of the 2008 Miss Malaysia Universe finals night. Levy is also a part-time model and hailed from Terengganu. Jean Thor Jean Nee and Valerie Chan Hsueh Yi were the runners-up in the said event.

May 30, 2008. Economics student Winfridah Mofu has been crowned Miss Zambia for 2008 and will represent her African country in Miss World. The national pageant was participated by 19 contestants and was held at the The Zambezi Sun Hotel, Livingstone. Winfridah was laso Zambia's bet in last year's Top Model of the World.

May 30, 2008. Amanda Sululu is Miss Universe Tanzania 2008 and will be Tanzania's representative to Miss Universe. The 1st runner-up Jamila Nyanga will compete in Miss Earth while the 2nd runner-up Eva Babuely will join in Miss International.

May 27, 2008. At a young age of 16, Iana Varnacova got the opportunity represent Moldova in the 2008 Miss World contest in Ukraine after winning the national title during the finals held at Hotel Leogrand in Chisinau.

May 26, 2008. Stephanie Willemse, nineteen years old and a professional model from Glasgow, will compete in the 2008 Miss World Pageant this October representing Scotland. Lisa Ingram was the 1st runner-up and Kim Tivendale was the 2nd runner-up.

May 26, 2008. New Greek beauties were crowned in Athens in the 2008 Star Hellas Beauty Pageant. Dionisia Koukiou was chosen as Star Hellas (for Miss Universe), Angeliki Kalaitzi won the Miss Hellas (for Miss World) title. They will compete in their respective international pageants this year. The runners-up, Ria Antoniou (B Star Hellas) and Sofia Roditi (B Miss Hellas), will compete in Miss Earth and Miss International.

May 25, 2008. Since the Miss Egypt pageant coincides its 2008 pageant with its 10th anniversary this December, Miss Egypt Organization and Face To Face Agency came up with the Miss Egypt Universe 2008 pageant in Cairo. The said special competition was participated by 12 contestants who were all runner-ups in the last three editions of the pageant. And the eventual winner was student and actress Yara Naoum -last years Miss Egypt 2nd runner-up,

May 24, 2008. Bangkok University student Gawintra Pothijakra, taking up Communication Arts, won the title of Miss Thailand Universe 2008 at the Pullman Bangkok King Power in Bangkok. The frist runner-up and Miss Thailand Earth position went to the Economics student Piyaporn Deejing. Chavallakorn Wattanavisitkul, Pirada Kajornmalee and Arnanya Chinsangchai were the rest of teh runners-up.

May 22, 2008. A Királyno (the Queen) has chosen Hungary's representatives to three top and major beauty pageants in the world. Szilvia Freire, 24, was crowned as A Királyno Miss World and gets the chance to represent Hungary in Miss World this year. Jázmin Dammak,24, was the A Királyno Miss Universe and will be sent to Miss Universe while Krisztina Polgár, 21,was A Királyno Miss Earth and will compete in Miss Earth.

May 22, 2008. The 19 year-old model, TV host and law student Carolina Dementiev Justavino was declared winner of the reality TV show Realmente Bella. The winner, Carolina - who's of Russian descent, automatically gets the Señorita Panama title and the chance to compete in Miss Universe 2008. Karina Pinilla, Estefania Varela and Ginelle Saldaña were the runners-up.

May 20, 2008. Pageant veteran Shenise Wong, 26, is the new Miss Singapore Universe at the Marriott Hotel. Among her previous titles were: Miss Singapore Asia-Pacific (1999), Miss Singapore International (2002) and Miss Singapore World (2005). Malvina Kang and Gayati Shunmugam were 1st and 2nd runner-up, respectively.

May 17, 2008. Anamarija Avbelj was crowned in Ljubljana as the new Miss Universe Slovenije. 32 finalists competed in the said event where Vanesa Štefanovski was the 1st runner-up and Klara Kobe placed as 2nd runner-up. Anamarija will represent Slovenia at Miss Universe 2008 in Vietnam.

May 14, 2008. A Psychology student from Sydney won the 2008 Miss Universe Asutralia crown. Laura Dundovic, 21 years old, bested 28 other candidates and gave her the opportunity to compete in Vietnam for the 57th Miss Universe contest. Michelle McNamee from Queensland was the 1st runner-up while Lauren Gillis from New South Wales placed 2nd runner-up.

May 13, 2008. Sandra Angelia from East Java was crowned Miss Indonesia 2008 during the pageant held at the Jakarta Convention Center. Sandra, an Architecture student at the University of Western Australia in Perth, will compete in Miss World in Ukraine. Kartika Indah Pelapory from Maluku was the 1st runner-up while Priscilla Yvonne Supit from North Sulawesi was the 2nd runner-up.

May 11, 2008. Fashion model and young philantropist Esther Sitali Banda was chosen as Miss Earth Zambia for 2008. Twenty-one year-old Esther was a former Miss Southern African titleholder and has volunteered in many social works in Africa since 2005. She will compete in Miss Earth this November.

May 11, 2008. Miss Cebu City, Karla Paula Henry was crowned as the new Miss Phiulippines Earth and will represent her country in Miss Earth 2008. The other winners of the said competition are: Miss PAGCOR International Tourism Ambassadress - Melanie Felix, Miss Philippines-Air - Marie Razel Eguia, Philippines-Water - Marian Michelle Oblea, Miss Philippines-Fire - Ma. Kristelle Lazaro and Miss Philippines-Eco Tourism - Maria Venus Raj.

May 10, 2008. Andrea León is Miss Ecuador Tierra 2008. She was a finalist in the recent Miss Ecuador pageant and was chosen to represent Ecuador in Miss Earth due to her pageant experience and intellectual advantage over other Miss Ecuador candidates. Andrea is currently an International Journalism student at the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo and speaks Spanish, English, Hungarian and German. She's also placed 1st runner-up in two minor international pageants in 2007 (Reina Internacional del Pacifico and Miss Turismo Latino).

May 10, 2008. Siera Robertson will be headed to Vietnam to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant this coming July. Robertson beat out 15 other lovely ladies Friday night in the gala event, put on by the Guam Beauty Association. The 18-year-old from the village of Yona is a senior at the Academy of Our Lady of Guam. First runner-up was Jennifer Neves while the second runner-up was Danielle Leon Guerrero.

May 04, 2008. Lisa Lazarus was crowned Miss Universe UK at Café de Paris in Leicester Square. The event was organised by Vibe Models and sponsored by Dress Stop.com.. She is now representing the United Kingdom in the Miss Universe beauty pageant on July. 20-year-old Lisa, from Swansea, is currently studying Radiography at Hertfordshire University. Holly Anne Hill and Jamie Williams was the beauty pageant's 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.

May 03, 2008. Kahurangi Taylor, an elegant young lady from Maori, was chosen as Miss World New Zealand 2008 at the Dorothy Winstone Centre. Kahurangi, who is barely seventeen years of age and a year 13 student at Auckland Girls Grammar, will compete in Miss World 2008 in Ukraine.

May 02, 2008. At the National Palace in Minsk, the model from Vitebsk, Olga Khizhinkova, was crowned as Miss Belarus 2008.Olga is 21 years old and will represent Belarus to Ukraine to compete in Miss World 2008.The 1st runner-up Iakovina Lubova, 18, will go to Miss International in Macau while the 2nd runner-up Anna Shevchenko, 21, will join in the Miss Europe contest.

May 02, 2008. Twenty-two year old Rebeca Moreno was chosen as the 2008 Nuestra Belleza El Salvador winner. She will represent El Salvador in Miss Universe in Vietnam this July.

May 01, 2008. Karol Castillo Pinillos, the eighteen year-old Psychology student representating Trujillo, won the 2008 Miss Peru Universo title. Giuliana Cevallos from Loreto was the first runner-up. Jimena Espinoza (Lima) and Claudia Carrasco (Cusco) were the other runners-up and will represent Peru in the Miss Continente Americano and Miss World University, respectively. Either the winner or the 1st runner-up will compete in Miss Earth.

May 01, 2008. Marilé Barrios, who was recently crowned as Miss Paraguay International 2008, surrendered her title. Barrios no longer wanted to be queen because she claims that she does not have any money to pay for her airfare to Japan for the Miss International pageant. Tatiana Limpias, manager of Promociones Gloria, owner of the pageant, stated that Barrios will be replaced by Rossana Galeano who was first runner-up. Limpias denied Barrios' complaint on the airfare issue.
