February 24, 2008. Eighteen year-old Thelma Guisselle Rodríguez Flores won the 2008 Miss Nicaragua contest and will represent her country in the 2008 Miss Universe nad Miss Earth pageants. The first runner-up was Karina Alexandra Gordon Hodgson and Gwendolyne García Leets was the second runner-up.

February 24, 2008. The winner of this year’s Miss Universe Croatia competition, that was held in the Kvarner Hotel in Opatija, is Snjezana Loncarevic. Snjezana was born in Slavonski Brod, but has been living in Zagreb for quite a while. She will be flown to Vietnam to compete in the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant.

February 24, 2008. Gabrielle Walcott (left) was chosen to represent Trinidad and Tobago in the Miss World competition and Anya Ayoung-Chee will represent the country in the Miss Universe Pageant. The pageant was broadcasted live from Zen Night Club on C Television.

February 21, 2008. 19-year-old Eleonora Masalab from Kharkiv was the winner of Miss Ukraine Universe 2008 pageant took place at the Alta Expo in Kiev. She was the first runner-up in 18th Miss Model of the World 2005-2006 in Shenzhen, China. She also competed in Miss Ukraine 2007 in April last year. She stands 178 cm and will represent Ukraine in Miss Universe 2008 on July 15th in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

February 23, 2008. Kelly Falco, an 18 year old student was crowned Miss Congo 2008 in the lush gardens of the Presidential Villa in Brazzaville, Congo where 18 beauties took part. She will compete in Miss Earth this November. Her court of runners up included 1st Dauphine Alicia Malanda who will go to Miss International and 2nd Dauphine Grazzieitlia Issalet who will be in Miss Tourism Queen.

February 16, 2008. Madina Taher, a twenty-one year-old student from Elmshorn of Afghan descent won over 99 other candidates in the 2008 Miss Universe Germany Pageant held at the Steigenberger Hotel. Kristine David from Meissen was the 2nd placer. Taher will be going to Vietnam for Miss Universe 2008.

February 3, 2008. The new Miss Suomi and Finland's representative to the 2008 Miss Universe pageant is 21 year-old Satu Tuomisto. She was almost disqaulified in the competition for being a member of an erotic dance group. Satu was crowned during the national finals held in Helsinki and televised through Finland's MTV3. The 1st runner-up Susanna Mustajärvi will be competing at the Miss International beauty pageant while the 2nd runner-up Jaana Taanilla will go to the Miss Europe contest.

February 2, 2008. The new Ceska Miss (Miss Czech Republic) winner is 18-year old Eliska Buckova, she will represent her country at the 2008 Miss Universe pageant in Vietnam. The Vice Miss, 19-year old Hana Svobodova, will compete in Miss Earth 2008 while 22-year old Elisavet Charalambidu, the 2nd Vice Miss, will be going to the Miss Intercontinental contest.

January 28, 2008. The 40th Miss Nippon (Miss Japan) contest was held in Tokyo and the eventual winner was 20-year-old Eri Suzuki, a second-year student in the college of humanities and sciences at Nihon University. Miss Nippon does not take part in any international pageant.

January 26, 2008. Miss Michigan Kirsten Haglund from Farmington Hills, Michigan was crowned Miss America 2008 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The final night of Miss America Live! was broadcast from Las Vegas on TLC.

January 26, 2008. Patricia Plummer was crowned Miss Cayman Tourism World 2008. Pageant Director Daniel Bodden said that she will compete in both Miss Earth and Miss Tourism Queen this year. Shirvonne Mitchell was 1st runner-up and Miss Cayman Model of the Universe. Yanique Connolly, 15, was Miss Teen Cayman Tourism World 2008.

January 8, 2008. Miss Pays-de-Loire Laura Tanguy, Miss France 2008 2nd dauphine, will represent France in both Miss Universe and Miss World competitions for 2008. She replaced Miss France 2008 Valerie Begue after national pageant officals got disturbed by Begue's Jesus-like-crucified pictures. The 1st dauphine, Miss New Caledonia, didn't accept the offer to participate in international pageants due to her university schedule. Despite Tanguy's represention in two grand slam pageants, Begue still holds the national title.
