April 29, 2009. New beauties were crowned at the end of the 2009 Miss Turkey national pageant. Turkish-German Ebru Sam was the over-all winner and will represent Turkey at Miss World 2009. Senem Kuyucuoglu became Miss Turkey Universe (who will compete in Miss Universe 2010), Ebru Hacibedel was chosen as Miss Turkey Europe (for Miss Europe 2010) and Begum Yilmaz bagged the Miss Turkey International title (for Miss International 2009). |

April 27, 2009. Katie Taylor from Auckland will be New Zealand's delegate to Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas. The new beauty queen was crowned at the Levin Events Centre. Miss Universe New Zealand 2009's court includes: Priyani Puketapu (1st runner-up)and Anthea Stembridge (2nd runner-up). |

April 25, 2009. Madgalena Elizabeth Schoeman, an 18-year old beauty therapist from Christchurch, was crowned Miss World New Zealand 2009 at the Dorothy Winstone Centre. She will be one of the national beauties who will compete for the Miss World crown on December. Runners-up were Natalie Sangster, Kyla Hei Hei, Leilani Marsters and Hannah Matthews. |

April 22, 2009. Queensland beauty Rachael Finch is the new Miss Universe Australia. The twenty-year-old model and TV personality will represent the land downunder at the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant in the Bahamas. Rachael competed with 30 other candidates during the pageant's finals held at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. |

April 19, 2009. Kristen Dalton of North Carolina beat 50 other state beauties during the finals of the 2009 Miss USA pageant held at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. She will represent the USA at Miss Universe in the Bahamas on August. Miss California Carrie Prejean's controversial response on the same sex marriage question during the final heat gave her the 1st runner-up position, while Miss Arizona Alicia-Monique Blanco placed as 2nd runner-up. Billy Bush and Nadine Velazquez hosted the said event.e |

April 17, 2009. The 14th Annual Miss Slovensko Pageant was held at the Sibamac Arena in Bratislava where 20 year-old Barbora Franeková ended as the new queen. Barbora, a fashion model and a law student from Zilina, will be wearing the Slovakian sash at the 2009 Miss World pageant. Sona Skoncová and Aneta Valentová were the Vice Miss and the 2nd Vice Miss, respectively. |

Since Vietnam's Ministry of Culture is permitting only one national beauty pageant a year (2009 was given to Mrs. Vietnam), last year's Hoa Hau Hoan Vu Vietnam 1st runner-up Vo Hoang Yen has been appointed as Miss Vietnam Universe 2009. The 21 year-old model will represent the Asian nation in Miss Universe 2009 in the Bahamas. |

March 14, 2009. Miss Georgia 2008 1st runner-up Lika Ordzhonikidze has been formally announced as Georgia's delegate to the 2009 Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas on August. Lika is an 18 year-old model from Tbilisi. |

April 5, 2009. The beauty queen nation of India has chosen it's candidates for the top three international beauty pageants: Pooja Chopra has been crowned Femina Miss India World; Ekta Chaudhury became Femina Miss India Universe; and Shriya Kishiore is the new Femina Miss India Earth. They will compete at the their respective grand slam pageants. Harshita Saxena and Irshita Sarkar were the runners-up. |

April 5, 2009. Eighteen year-old model Marigona Dragusha from Pristina will be Kosovo's second delegate to the Miss Universe after winning the 2009 Miss Universe Kosovo pageant. Marihona will be competing with other national Miss Universe beauties in the Bahamas on August. |

April 4, 2009. Miss Amazonas, Karen Schwarz, will be Peru's Miss Universe 2009 representative. The 24 year-old model won the Miss Peru Universo crown over 23 other women during the national pageant finals held in Lima. Miss Ayacucho, Jessica Shialer, was the 1st runner-up and Miss Peru Earth; while Miss Ica, Sofia del Pino, was the 2nd runner-up. |

April 3, 2009. The Miss Cook Islands pageant was held in Rarotonga where Engara Melanie Amanda Gosselin ended as the winner. The 24 year-old student from the University of the South Pacific will represent the archipelago at Miss Earth for the first time -which is the Cook Islands grand slam pageant return since Miss Universe during the late 90's. The 1st runner-up was Joyanna Myer and the second runner-up was Uirangi Bishop. |
